There are slots in the fence extrusion that allow you to use the fence either standing up or lying down to produce the high and low fence capability. It can also be used as a high or low fence because the extrusion is attached to the base casting using wide slots that engage a steel plate that then attaches via two wing bolts to the fence main casting.

The fence extrusion is about 42' long and can be pulled back to any length desired, even to the length most preferred in Europe. I have, and much prefer the Unifence and have the 52' version on my Unisaw. (Stanley) I have a couple that were purchased together, several that were purchased years apart and one that was a Christmas gift that all read the same.īiesmeyer and Unifence are the two common fences that were used on Unisaws for the last 40 or so years. I have seen bargain bin brands that differ in accuracy between tapes in the bin. Buy a good brand and stick with that brand. The difference may be 1/64 per foot but it is different and typically more than that between brands. Typically tapes or rulers are different between manufacturers. You can use the tape to measure inside (between) or outside (across) distances with repeatable accuracy. Yes! Really! The distance that the hook moves exactly the thickness of the hook. The hook on the end of a measuring tape is supposed to move. That way you won't be asking yourself, 'Why is this off by 1/32?' or more. Put the tape against the fence and use a right leaning tooth on the saw blade to read the exact distance. Use a single measuring tape for your project. The simple reason is that you can't use that ruler to measure the rest of your project. Great but not worth the effort.Īs far as the accuracy of any fence ruler, the advice here is don't worry about it and don't use the ruler for accuracy. I've even added a digital read out to the Biesemeyer. I have come to the conclusion that the Biesemeyer fence is probably the best fence system out there. At best awkward and the Incra is only a 30 inch fence. I made an adapter to use the Incra positioner with the Biesemeyer on my UniSaw. I used an Incra on my Jet contractor model. The repeatability of an Incra is something that woodworkers dream of. In terms of accuracy and repeatability I don't think that an Incra can be beat.
